Members, guests and visitors are required to make themselves aware of the Etiquette of Golf. Tenterden Golf Club aims to operate a contemporary and forward-thinking dress policy. The following required standards must be adhered to both on the course and in the Clubhouse. We ask that members, their guests and visitors respect the following guidance: -
On the Course
Recognised golf attire is required for all players. This includes;
* *Shirts MUST have a collar (Mock neck and blade collar shirts are allowed) *
* Men's shirts should be recognised golfing attire, with either long or short sleeves and must have a collar
* Ladies' sleeveless shirts are permitted but must have a collar and may be worn outside shorts etc if so designed.
* Trousers and shorts are to be tailored
* Men's shorts should be tailored and worn with socks
* Ladies skorts, dresses, skirts and capri pants are permitted and worn with socks
* Golf branded roll neck tops, hoodies and golf joggers are allowed.
* Golf shoes with spikes or dimples are required on the course. Appropriate golf socks should be worn.
* Golf shoes must be worn on the course, but not in the clubhouse. There is an area towards the balcony end of the clubhouse which is used as a spike bar.
The following must not be worn on the golf course:
* Sports shirts (such as football shirts, rugby shirts, T shirts) are not permitted
* Shoes that are not golf shoes
* Denim/Jeans
* Cargo pants
* Combat trousers
* Tracksuits
Hats, if worn, should not be worn back-to-front and must be removed in the clubhouse.
*In the Clubhouse *
* The above dress code applies within the Clubhouse with the exception that smart denim jeans may be worn
* Hats must be removed in the Clubhouse
Each player must have their own set of golf clubs and a recognised golf bag to carry them in, as sharing clubs is not permitted and all players should have previous golf course experience.
Maximum number of players per group is 4.
Juniors (under 18s) are only permitted on the course after 11:30am. Children who are under 14 years of age who are not Junior Members shall not be permitted to play unless any of the following apply:
* In possession of a valid handicap certificate and accompanied by an
adult
* playing as a prospective junior member with the Club Pro or an Officer of the Club or
* a Junior Member of another golf club playing in an officially organised Club competition open to other clubs or
* playing golf or caddying with an adult member, such adult being responsible for the supervision of such child and for his or her conduct on the course.
It shall be the responsibility of the parent or guardian of any child under 14 years of age to ensure that such child is properly supervised while on Club premises.
Flag positions & marker posts:
Red front, Yellow centre, White back of green
White marker posts are 150 yards from the centre of the green
Penalty Areas (Rule 17)
Penalty Areas are marked with either Yellow or Red stakes and Out of Bounds with White stakes. Bridges, tracks and paths crossing a Penalty Area are deemed to be in the Penalty Area they cross
Out of Bounds (Rule 18.2)
i. The clubhouse and car parks, the path linking them and the path immediately in front of the clubhouse
ii. Perimeter boundaries all around the course, including the ditches to the left of the 5th, 6th and 7th holes
iii. The greenkeepers' hut and surrounding area adjacent to the 12th, 13th 16th & 17th holes
iv. The fenced area to the left of the 8th hole, which MUST NOT be crossed. No relief is permitted if the fence interferes with a player's stance
Abnormal Course Conditions (Rule 16.1)
i. Ground Under Repair is marked by white lines and areas are defined as No-play zones, it is compulsory to take relief
ii. Staked trees and shrubs are immovable obstructions and relief MUST be taken
iii. Relief may be taken from other immovable obstructions, including surfaced roads, paths, sprinkler heads/stopcock covers, bins and ball washers
iv. Relief may be taken from the sewage installation and surrounding hedge to the right of the 9th fairway, vehicle ruts and scrapes and holes made by non-burrowing animals, (e.g. squirrels)
10th hole
The fence on the left of the 10th hole is within the Penalty Area and MUST NOT be crossed. If a ball is deemed to have entered the fenced area of the Penalty Area a penalty drop MUST be taken from the drop zone provided. A ball resting against the fence is deemed to be within the Penalty Area.
Relief may be taken if the fence interferes with a player's stance
